ALUMNI ASSOCIATION UPDATE

Welcome to the alumni family, May graduates!

We're filled with pride as we welcome thousands of Bobcats who graduated in May to the alumni family. There's a reason graduation ceremonies are called "commencements." They're a celebration of the start of something new; of a lifelong connection to Texas State University. We're excited to start that journey with these Bobcats and we hope you'll join us in welcoming them to the Alumni Association.

FROM THE NEWSROOM

Texas State University will rename Angelina Hall and San Gabriel Hall on the San Marcos Campus to honor the university's first Black and Latinx students. Two streets on the Round Rock Campus will also be named in honor of Dr. Elvin Holt and Dr. Adolfo Barrera.

The School of Music is hosting the 11th Texas State International Piano Festival. This year's festival will feature 41 young pianists who were selected through auditions to participate in a week of lessons, master classes, recitals, seminars and recreational activities.

Dr. Jennifer Clegg and Dr. Katherine Warnell, assistant professors in the Department of Psychology, join the Big Ideas TXST podcast to discuss their ongoing research into how children learn to lie. Their research examines different types of lies and lying across cultures.

To celebrate Black Music Appreciation Month, the African American Alumni Network is hosting a virtual game night to build community, bring out your competitive spirit, and enjoy music from some of our favorite musical artists. Luis Leyva (B.S. '16)

Luis started at San Antonio Football Club as an intern during their inaugural year, and his hard work and dedication resulted in a full-time position after graduation. He's been with them ever since, now serving as their Senior Communications Coordinator.
