ALUMNI ASSOCIATION UPDATE
ALUMNI TAILGATES ARE BACK!
|
|
|
This fall, the Alumni Association will host four tailgates - three tailgates at Texas State home games and one away tailgate vs Baylor at McLane Stadium - with plenty of food and drinks, a DJ, giveaways, yard games, a kids' corner and even air-conditioned restrooms.

The Texas State Alumni Association is excited to announce Brian McCoy as the recipient of the 2022 Denise M. Trauth Outstanding Leadership Award. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership within his company, McCoy Corporation, and the McCoy College Foundation at Texas State University. McCoy and his family have consistently given their time, talent, and treasure to McCoy College and Texas State University.

William “Bill” Hobson and Loma Hobson have made a gift of nearly $350,000 to Texas State University in support of the William and Loma Hobson Endowed Scholarship. The Hobsons established the endowed scholarship in 1998 to financially assist undergraduate students who have graduated high school from Edna or Sealy high schools and have been accepted to Texas State. The gift adds to the Hobsons’ legacy as Texas State Heroes.

Texas State University has announced a record-setting freshman enrollment of more than 7,590 for the 2022 fall semester, a 14% increase over the previous year. The largest freshman class in Texas State history is more than 900 students greater than the 6,625-member freshman class of 2021—the previous record holder for class size.

We're celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15 - Oct. 15. The Hispanic Alumni Network connects and mobilizes Hispanic alumni to strengthen and expand the opportunities for current and prospective students to succeed at Texas State, and to foster stronger relationships between Hispanic alumni and the university. 30th Anniversary KTSW Reunion
A reunion of former radio station staff members to celebrate the 30th anniversary of KTSW 89.9 and the beginning of KAT Radio in 1982 will be held on October 7 & 8. Events planned for the celebration include Mass Comm Week Friday, featuring KTSW 89.9 & KAT Radio alumni with a social gathering later that day, campus tours, and a luncheon on Saturday with guest speakers and the latest inductees into the KTSW 89.9/KAT Radio Hall of Fame.

Alumni Away Tailgate: TXST vs. Baylor
Come out and support Bobcat football on the road! Join us in Waco at McLane Stadium on Saturday, September 17 as the TXST Bobcats take on the Baylor Bears. This tailgate will take place from 9:00-11:00 a.m. right before kick-off! Get your tickets today and we hope to see you there.

You're invited to meet new Texas State University President, Kelly Damphousse. President Damphousse will be hosting welcome receptions in Waco (Sept. 16), Washington D.C. (Sept. 29), and Atlanta (Oct.13) this fall with more opportunities coming in the spring. We hope to see you there!
