Lauren Green Named 2022 LBJ Outstanding Senior Student

Lauren Green

Lauren Green is the recipient of the 2022 LBJ Outstanding Senior Student Award presented annually by the Texas State University Alumni Association. This award is named in honor of Distinguished Alumnus and 36th President of the United States, Lyndon B. Johnson, and recognizes graduating seniors who have shown outstanding leadership, character, campus and community involvement, and academic success.

Kelly Damphousse Headshot

The Board of Regents of the Texas State University System confirmed Kelly R. Damphousse, Ph.D., as the 10th president of Texas State University. His presidency will begin on July 1.

On April 2, 2022, the College of Liberal Arts hosted the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award Gala. The DAAA award recognizes exceptional contributions of Texas State University Liberal Arts graduates to society, the arts and humanities, and the environment.

Three current Texas State University graduate students, one undergraduate, and two alumni have received the 2022 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships, which are awarded in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Laura Garrido

Laura Garrido (B.A. '02)

After graduating from Texas State in 2002, Laura moved to South Florida to begin her career in real estate. After many years of success in her field, she earned her master's degree in Business Leadership at Nova Southeastern University and her Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis Resolution. For 10 years between earning her degrees, Laura worked in higher education marketing with an extensive portfolio. She is currently a full time instructor at Western Governors University teaching undergraduate business courses, doctoral level courses in research ethics, and master's courses in communication and change management.

Welcoming New Alumni Relations Staff

Maritza Martinez

Maritza Martinez (B.H.A.'16, M.B.A.'19)

Maritza joined the Alumni Relations team as the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement on April 4th. She brings four years of experience working with University Advancement and the Office of Development as a student and graduate assistant. Maritza is the former Development Associate for Our Lady of Wisdom University Parish, the Catholic Student Center at Texas State. She is a two-time alum of Texas State and was a member of the Bobcat Marching Band for two years. We are excited to have her back at the university and on our team!

Nominate an Outstanding Bobcat

Nominations are now open for the Denise M. Trauth Outstanding Leadership Award! This award is named for its inaugural recipient and the ninth president of Texas State University, Dr. Denise M. Trauth. The award celebrates Dr. Trauth's two decades of outstanding leadership at Texas State University and recognizes those who carry her legacy forward through integrity, compassion, resiliency, and innovation.

Ring Celebration

May 6, 2022 | 12-6pm
Strahan Arena at the University Events Center


Each semester, hundreds of Bobcats, family, and friends gather at the Ring Celebration to celebrate achieving an academic milestone and receiving the most visible symbol of Bobcat Pride: The Official Texas State Ring. This semester, the Ring Celebration will take place in Strahan Arena at the University Events Center, allowing students plenty of ring photo opportunities at Sewell Park.

Spring 2022 Commencement

Commencement will take place Thursday, May 12 - Saturday, May 14 at Strahan Arena at the University Events Center. Thousands of Bobcats will cross the stage and become a part of the Texas State Alumni Association. Once A Bobcat, Always A Bobcat!

Bobcat Pause Memorial Service

Bobcat Pause

The 2022 Bobcat Pause Memorial Service was held on April 7th, 2022, in the LBJ Student Center. Bobcat Pause is an annual event that honors members of the campus community who have recently passed away. The event is hosted by Student Foundation and the Student Involvement Office, and provides the Texas State University community an opportunity to remember our Bobcat family.
