Texas State historians of Russia, contemporary Europe, diplomacy, and U.S. military interventionism held a panel on February 28 to discuss the crisis taking place in Ukraine. A recording of the Zoom webinar is available to watch in the TXST Newsroom.

Katy Dane (M.M. '08), a teacher with Georgetown ISD, has been named the 2022 Music Educator by the Barbershop Harmony Society and the National Association for Music Education.

Sami Alsheikh, a software engineer at Meta, is the third Engineer in Residence at Texas State and the first to teach two semesters. The Engineer in Residence program, which Meta began in 2016, pays salaries and expenses for its employees as temporary faculty at partner universities.

Ali Malik (B.A. '10)
Ali graduated in 2010 with a B.A. in political science and a teaching certification. He then pursued his M.A. in international human rights law at the American University in Cairo, in the midst of the Egyptian revolution in 2012, before completing his Ph.D. in socio-legal studies from York University in Toronto in 2021. His doctoral dissertation, titled "Conjunctures in Law and Development: Assemblages for Progress in Indian Agricultural Futures," was nominated for the Dissertation Prize at York University. Ali has presented his research at institutions such as Harvard Law School, NYU, University of Texas, University of Singapore, and SOAS (London). He is currently a tenure-track assistant professor in the Law, Politics and Society department at Drake University.

The State of Black Design Family Reunion is a three-day hybrid conference hosted by Texas State University that aims to provide networking, development, and career opportunities for young designers, focusing on student designers of color. Texas State alumni are invited to attend.
