Alumni Association Scholarship Recipients

Mallory Eastland

Mallory Eastland
(B.E. '14)

Mallory earned her degree in exercise and sports sciences from Texas State and went on to earn a master's degree in environmental science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has worked for the Texas A&M Natural Resource Institute for the past four years and recently moved to North Carolina to serve as a project coordinator for the South Atlantic Salt Marsh Initiative, a regional conservation initiative working to preserve over one million acres of salt marsh in the southeast. Mallory's favorite memories of her time at Texas State include serving as president of the Renegade Roses and meeting her husband, who is a fellow Bobcat and former TXST rugby player. “I relied on scholarships to pay for my degree and being the recipient of an Alumni Association scholarship was a great honor that helped me become an alum myself,” said Eastland. She is currently working on a project related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the wildlife profession with the James G. Teer Conservation Leadership Institute.
