TXST Meadows Center awarded $2.5 million for climate change research to protect Texas water |
The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at TXST will employ the funding to study the climate’s impact on local surface water and groundwater. As part of the federal Climate Change Impact on Water Initiative, the project’s goal is to prepare Texas for future water resource challenges.

Sixty years after desegregation at Texas State, the TXST community celebrated the university’s first Black enrollees, a group of women known as the “First Five.” The women remembered their experiences as daunting, thrilling, and rooted in a commitment to education.

Study shows mortality for recently pregnant women increased during pandemic
TXST Department of Psychology faculty members found that deaths rose in 2019-2020 for pregnant women and new mothers. “The pandemic really put a pause on social interaction,” Professor Krista Howard says. “Many women had an increase in mental health issues, such as postpartum depression, and a decrease in access to healthcare.”
