Texas State celebrates 60 years of desegregation with series of events
This year marks the sixtieth anniversary of desegregation at Texas State, a major milestone brought about by the courage of five African American women determined to overcome the systemic discrimination inherent in higher education of the era. This spring, a series of events will be held to honor that milestone and the anniversaries of several Black Greek organizations and the Black Student Alliance.

Dr. Maggie Wan in the McCoy College of Business partnered with researchers at several universities to examine remote work and the work environment’s impact on families. They surveyed hundreds of couples about finding a balance between work and family needs.

Students from St. David’s School of Nursing at TXST’s Round Rock Campus traveled to central Panama for a 10-day service-learning education trip. They led disease prevention and health promotion activities through community clinical practice with local physicians and pharmacists.

The U.S. Department of Justice awarded TXST a $1 million grant in support of Operation ID led by the university’s Forensic Anthropology Center. The grant will allow the program to expand its efforts to facilitate the identification of unidentified human remains found in South Texas.
