Dr. Sharon Keefe Ugalde is a university distinguished professor in the Department of World Languages and Literatures and the coordinator of the Spanish Division. Her research focuses on poetry written by women in the era of the new Spanish democracy, the late 1980s forward, and, more recently, on how poets, novelists, dramatists, painters, and photographers of Spain reinterpret Shakespeare’s Ophelia to address gender inequalities.

Dr. Catherine Jaffe is a professor of Spanish and also teaches in the Honors College. She researches on Spanish women writers from the 1780's to the early 1800's whose work has been lost or forgotten. She focuses on the women of a secular, philanthropic society in Madrid called the Junta de Damas. Inspired by the ideals of the Enlightenment, they used modern innovations to improve poor women's lives by managing the Madrid foundling hospital, schools for poor women and children, and the women's prison.
